What is a Smart Hospital?
Smart Hospital is a platform that establishes and maintains a sustainable communication bridge between companies operating in the health informatics, technology, and industry sectors, which produce products and solutions, and the decision-makers of hospitals and national health authorities.
Smart Hospital, an immersive technology exhibition and feedback space, offers an innovative, patient-focused, and care-practitioner-oriented model that significantly aligns with the EU’s Digital Single Market (DSM) Strategy and policy priorities for adopting digital solutions in health and care. As a simulative model of an hospital, it provides an opportunity to its participants to exhibit their technology solutions directly to the healthcare providers and builds a multidimensional open network of connected feedbacks.

Achieving an Interoperable Health System
By ensuring a seamless flow of vital patient data between varied systems, interoperability amplifies the quality of care and patient experience. However, current market fragmentation hinders this seamless exchange, occasionally leading to compromised patient outcomes. Here, the Smart Hospital emerges as an exemplar, illustrating how we can conquer these challenges through avant-garde technology, innovation, and cooperative effort.
The Smart Hospital’s immersive journey encompasses nine pivotal medical units, offering a holistic insight into the healthcare trajectory, from the initiation of registration to the conclusion of discharge. Our broad spectrum of product categories accentuates both innovation and the facilitation of care.
Smart Hospital Patient Journey
A patient comes to the hospital, goes to the registration area. In the registration area, by the ID card or ID number, patient directed to the relevant unit (generally Emergency from a green or yellow area through triage or to the polyclinic). Direction may be made by a AI supported health assistance provider.
Patient follows the queue through the examination room line track system showing the number of patients who’s been waiting on a screen. When the patient sees their name on the screen, they go to the examination room.
The physician knows the name of the patient and can view the health records if the patient approves. Previous medical record has been transferred from National Health System to the physicans’ hospital information management system interface. After the examination, physician may prescribe medications from the same HIMS interface or national prescription system; or may give orders to blood or urine analysis, and/or x-ray.
If patient is prescribed medication, they directly go to the Pharmacy and get their medication only with ID.
If patient is directed to the analysis, they go to the laboratory, assisted for the tests, and wait for the results. Then follow the laboratory result tracking system to visit the examination room again. The results are recorded and archived in NHA, and made accessible by the physician.
If patient is directed to x-ray, they go to the radiology, assisted for x-ray. After the x-ray, picture archive & communications system imports the pictures from the x-ray machine. Either directly or by an AI-assistive system, transfer the data to the radiologists who prepare a report. The report is transferred to NHA & physicians’ HIMS.
Patient revisits the physician. May be directed to inpatient room or may be directed to operating room.
In both cases, patient tracking systems are used. If patient is directed to operating room, the tracking systems are used to enable the right patient goes to the right operating room. In both cases, HIMS is used. In both cases hospital uses the closed cycle medication system: the right patient, the right drug, the right time, the right dose, and the right route.
After the patient is discharged, all the treatment processes are recorded in the NHA and could be viewed by only the patient. Patient may decide to hide any step from being viewed/seen.
